Building Calluses

August 10, 2009

Here’s a quickie for this week while I pack up for my trip to New York (and expect there to be LOTS of updates after I get back)…

So Dave let me borrow his guitar (a Yamaha FG-04 LTD) for the summer, but when he got back from his California vacation, he was broke. So, he sold it to me! I am most happy with the purchase, it sounds great and I love to play it when I get home from work and want to unwind. However, she needs new strings and a name. Any suggestions?

PS. Work is now over, yay!  It’s sort of bittersweet after working there for 4 summers. I should’ve taken some photos of the cubicle jungle I lived in and friendly faces at the office but that probably would not have gone over too well with the awesome Motorola NDA that I signed. Plus I’d probably creep everyone in the office out. But I guess that comes with the territory.

My group of Moto intern friends and I had an “End of Summer BBQ” on Thursday night that was originally planned to be at Independnce Grove in Libertyville, but was moved indoors to Elissa’s huge apartment in Gurnee because of inclement weather.

Wildberry

Intern Lunch 4! Considering most everyone went, no one brought their lunch, and we didn’t crash into any sidewalks, I’d consider it a success! haha. Wildeberry is delicious. :-)

Unleashing Our Moto

July 13, 2009

On Friday, instead of coming into the office, most of the interns from work volunteered at the Busse Forrest Preserve in Schaumberg to participate in a “Day of Service / Social Event.” There were a lot of cool pictures to be had, like interns chopping down invasive plants like buckthorn (and baby oak trees.. oops) and doing controlled burns of the stuff they cut, but I was relegated to trash pickup duty and didn’t really get to see any action. Other than stuff burning, I did get to see a lot of cool things around the park (like lakes, bridges, and a family of geese) but instead of carrying a 1D-mk III around with me, I decided to shed the extra weight and focus on my duties as a garbage-man. After 3 hours of trash pick up, I can say with confidence that I am now considering a career change.

Anyway, we had lunch back at HQ. Here’s some photos of my fellow engineering interns out of Libertyville:
