It’s 2:30am and I’m bored so I whipped up a sweet indie-hip/hop-DJ-mashup slideshow of my photos from the basketball game against Presby College that I shot with Ned on Saturday. We didn’t have any on-air audio for an audio slideshow so I told Ned to just use techno music instead. He didn’t, so this is an idea of what I think should have made the DI website on Sunday morning. :-P The musical cues don’t work the whole time, and I sort of ran out of photos, but it’s fun and stupid so who cares…

D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Focus)
November 13, 2009Shot the Jay Z concert last night at Assembly Hall for the DI. I only got to stay for two songs (and 90% of that time was looking through my viewfinder while my arm got sore holding my 1D+70-200 over my head) while N.E.R.D. and Jay Z performed. It was still pretty cool nonetheless. I was having a ton of autofocus issues looking back at my photos, but I have a feeling they were my fault and not the 1D3 — so I came out unsatisfied. Blerg. Brad got some really nice shots, ‘check em out. And yeah, how do High School newspapers get credentials for this stuff? I feel old.

November 13, 2009I had to crash a barndance for my job with the alumni association. Most of the pictures I took were posed and flashed because it was dark as hell and I had to ask permission of people to take photos as per the barn owner and fraternity/sorority’s request, but here’s a nice little moment of drunken partying next to a large pallet fire and me creeping from afar.
Orange & Blue Scrimm
October 31, 2009Last weekend I shot a basketball scrimmage, and it was relatively uneventful. The worst part was captioning since the Illini wear practice jerseys without numbers on the front, and the numbers on the back are almost indecipherable. The worst part was getting to know the freshmen, but I hear that they’re supposed to be a good recruiting class so it’s good to get to know their names and faces now so that I can know who to cheer for in a few years once I’m gone and they make the NCAA championship game again.
