Graduation Barbeque

June 20, 2010

The Kim household held a barbeque for daughter, Sue, that I attended tonight. My friends and I had a good time; The entertainment somehow devolved from a discussion of the anglo-saxon roots of the english language to talking about embarrassing stains to tossing a watermelon out of sheer amusement.

I downloaded a neat plugin for mouseovers on images in wordpress. MOUSE-OVER THESE PHOTOS!

In addition to helping illuminate our soccer juggling circle and attracting millions of bugs, Yoo Soo’s garage lights provided some interesting rim-lighting.

92nd Birthday

My Lola turned 92 on Thursday so we came to visit her on this joyous occasion. She has been living a good long life so every year that she is still with us is a blessing.

Food Frenzy

April 12, 2010

After going to a bridal shower that had awesome food, I went to a 81st birthday party that had REALLY awesome food. I haven’t been to a filipino party in the longest time, so it was cool to go back to my roots and the days when my parents used to have these kinds of parties for us at our home (they’re too old now, though). Anyway, we came two hours early (my mom forgot when the party started) so I got some nice shots of the food being prepped and untouched by the party guests.

H’okay so here’s a list of the deliciousness:

TOP: My mom’s friend’s brother cutting up the lechon (roast pig).
MIDDLE-LEFT: The lechon before it got all sliced up.
MIDDLE-RIGHT: My mom eating desserts at the previous bridal shower.
BOTTOM 9×9 (left-to-right, starting from the top left): Pancit, Mushroom Adobo, Menudo,
Arroz Valenciana, Talong, FRESH CUT PINEAPPLE! (also grapes, melon, and strawberry),
Bibinka, Turon, and Fruit Salad

Maligayang Bati

October 1, 2009

Two weekends ago I went home for my niece’s 1st birthday party. Filipino parties are pretty boring for me when there’s no one my age to converse with, so I mostly played with my nieces, but the real treat of these parties is THE FOOD! I miss it so much when I’m at school! My mom made me a care package of Filipino food to take back to school with me, but I forgot to grab it off the coffee table before I left! :-(
