Sam, Sue, Lisa, and Bryan and I took a trip to Oak Park this afternoon to tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity House. It’s so awesome. I haven’t explored an intimate and visually exciting place like this in a very long time, so I had a doozy of a time. I decided to kick it old school and convert to black and white, something I haven’t done in a while and should probably try doing more often. I don’t think you’re missing much with color here anyway; Unity Temple has a very dull, earthy paint job that doesn’t really accentuate any of its amazing details. Enjoy!

Bridging Modern Art

June 26, 2010

After going to the beach on Thursday my friends and I took a trip to the Chicago Art Institute and finally got around to checking out the ‘new’ modern wing, but for only a little bit since we were getting tired and hungry after a long day. I think checking it out a whole lot more merits another visit. I love that place. Anyway, we exited via the bridge to Milennium Park, here are some photos from that part of the visit.

One day, I will build an actual working human Pong game. Until that day, I have this picture to dream about it.

Chicago in B+W Part II

November 27, 2009

Took a trip downtown with the DIP crew again, this time Jeremy and Josh came along too, but I missed them because I missed my train and didn’t arrive till later in the afternoon. And I don’t blame them for leaving early — it was pretty cold, wet, and miserable downtown, so I left after a few hours as well.

No hood internet this time. Tripods are awesome.

No Sleep Till Brooklyn

August 20, 2009

Thursday Afternoon: Part 7 of a 13-part series of photos documenting my trip to New York:

  • Took the PATH from Jersey City to WTC, and the Subway from WTC to Brooklyn
  • Walked around Brooklyn, ate at a diner (finally, a pretty good one!). They had a pickle platter and I ordered a Gyro.
  • Went to DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass), walked to the Courthouse, then took the Subway to Prospect Park
  • Prospect Park’s naming conventions for different parts of the park are pretty awesome. It was like walking through a Tolkien book
  • The houses in Brooklyn look like they’re from the Cosby Show
  • I’ve had that Beastie Boys song stuck in my head all week.

White Hall

April 23, 2009

Took a trip to one of Face‘s favorite spots, Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL with him, Brad, Jeremy, Wesley, and Ramzi. I’ve seen photos on his and other co-workers’ blogs, but after today I reaffirmed the notion that you can’t really get a true feel for a place until you’ve experienced it for yourself. And hoh-boy is it amazing.
